The Northern Range

The Northern Range

Sometimes called the crown of the world, the Northern Range is the last stretch of land that has been at least partially mapped before giving way to the treacherous Snowy Wastes. The mountains are actually part of a larger chain that wraps around the outer edges of the landmass’ northern region, merging with both the Eastern Ramparts and the Western Shieldwall.

Both the Jorynian Empire and Kingdom of Ironcrest suffer incursions from monsterous humanoids that raid from the mountains. These marauders are seldom tracked back to their lairs, a fact that the dwarves have lamented long before the arrival of humans.

The Northern Host also claims the Northern Range as it’s home. Rather than a formal nation of people, the Northern Host is made up of several nomadic groups of beings. These people come from all races and all walks of life, choosing to eschew civilization and live among the wild things and rugged splendor of the mountains.

Little is known of this stretch of mountain in the human realms that nestle at the foothills. The dwarves of Stonegaard know little of it’s surface and face an ongoing battle with goblins and kobolds in the tunnels below. The organization of these tribes and their cooperation with larger races on the surface leads many to believe that there is something more to these raiders than just their respective chieftains.
